Easy Strength: An 8 - week Feldenkrais Series with Kevin

January 13 - March 3
Mondays, 430 - 5:45 PM

We live in a culture that conflates muscle and effort with strength and power.  Far more powerful than muscle, however, is the easy mechanical advantage afforded by a well-organized skeleton.  Learn to recognize and release unnecessary muscular tension, explore new movement options and decrease stress on our nervous system.

Feldenkrais teaches us to slow down, reduce effort and explore movement with presence, awareness, and curiosity.

The 98 lb founder of Judo, Jigaro Kano, easily threw heavily muscled students double or triple his size by using his small frame masterfully.   A kayaker who uses arm muscle to paddle will tire quickly whereas a one who paddles using the whole her skeletal frame can paddle all day easily.

Easy strength is child’s play.

As my Feldenkrais mentor, Jeff Haller, says (Jeff works with pro athletes in the NHL, ABL & PGA), the cultural focus on building muscle rather than new neurological options leads to strengthening & conditioning programs that diminish rather than enhance athleticism.

this series promotes:

  • Increased flexibility and range of motion

  • Enhanced muscle function and coordination

  • Improved neuromechanical efficiency

  • Reduced joint wear and tear

  • Lower injury risk by minimizing unbalanced forces on joints and muscles

  • Decreased chronic pain in areas like lower back, neck, and joints

  • Improved breathing

  • Stress relief

  • Greater mental clarity

  • Better sleep

  • Nervous system balance

Pre-registration required.
