Our Philosophy
At this point in our journey through the pandemic we have arrived at a time when it is up to each individual to make decisions for themselves. We need to be honest, to truth speak about our status when asked, to respect others and make choices that lend security and well being to the whole of the community. Now is a time for leaning on each other in safe ways as all of us have our own story and unique needs.
Personal Responsibility = Team Player
It is no longer dependent upon our businesses and public institutions to protect us, but to make choices as citizens of a collective to protect and nurture the whole. We ask that everyone take personal responsibility for your actions and wellbeing. We are not interested in policing our patrons, mandating certain behaviors or taking your temperature. Open Space is founded on trust in every way.
Keeping Us Safe
For our part, Open Space has a Corona specific protocol which has been in place since we reopened. We have a weekly professional clean team, hand sanitizer, disposable masks, 3 HEPA air purifiers and frequent flushing of air with window and door ventilation. We run with limited capacity for events and classes, striving always to allow ample time for transition between offerings to minimize traffic in our lobby. We encourage you to stay home if you don’t feel well, mask when you can and listen to your intuition both in and outside our sanctuary. As always, our mission is to support community and be a refuge for a diversity of people in the heart of Anchorage. If you rent space from us, you are, of course, welcome to adjust the guidelines to your comfort level.
